Carrie Welsh

4W Assistant Director

Carrie Welsh is the Assistant Director of 4W. She has worked as an educator, editor, and writer. Academically trained as a historian of education, her graduate research explored the creative, arts-based pedagogy of Zilphia Horton, the cultural organizer at Highlander Folk School in eastern Tennessee from 1935-1956. Carrie has a B.A. in English from the University of Kentucky and an M.A. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She considers wellbeing a right, not a privilege, and works to cultivate creative, collaborative, and contemplative practices. She is a member of the inaugural cohort of the Liberatory Leadership Project’s Liberation School, a collective that centers healing practices in movements for justice.
